Study for Degree in Dentistry
The School of Dentistry, MNUMS offers a five – year undergraduate curriculum, which have been accredited second time by National Council for Higher Education Accreditation in 2012,for dentists with 178 credits and 4 years for dental hygienist students with 140credits,including from general (medical) education to basic dental and clinical education. Dental students study basic sciences during the first and second years of the curriculum and basic medicine during the third year. From fourth year curriculum students begin making contact with patients. Teaching in the basic science subjects is still done by other school departments of MNUMS. During their clinical training at the affiliated hospital, students are provided with detailed and effective education as they rotate through the different departments.
The school has affiliated with the Dental hospital, which consists of: The Implant and Cosmetic dentistry Center, Dental Imaging section, Postgraduate Dental Clinic, Prosthodontic clinic, Operative clinic, Oral surgery clinic. Residency training programs are available in Restorative Dentistry, Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Orthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Postgraduate dental education activities comprise continuing professional education and specialization in one of the clinical disciplines. School offers residential programs in Restorative Dentistry, Pediatric dentistry, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery.
In addition to the Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree, the School offers a 3 years Ph.D. and 2 years Master degree programs in Dentistry. Since 2007 it was established the Dental Research Institute. Research conducted at the School of Dentistry involves fundamental and clinical research that addresses problems and promotes oral health for the people of Mongolia.
