Central Hospital of MNUMS

Central Hospital of MNUMS

The historic decision was made that the State Central Hospital (current name State First Central Hospital) would merge with the University of Medical Science within the framework of the joint order No. 215/A/150 in 1995, signed by the Minister of Science and Education and Minister of Health of Mongolia. However, it cancelled due to several reasons for instance, social and economic conditions of the time and the misunderstanding between hospital staff and university. Then executive management team of the university had started a new hospital construction project in 2001 by private funding, but the project also did not complete as of ownership issues.

Fortunately, on the 25th of May 2007 the General Director of the Health Science University of Mongolia (HSUM) signed order number A/41 (Certificate No. EU-07/23/3320 endorsed by Ministry of Health, 2007/12/21) that established Erkhes Outpatient Clinics affiliated with the School of Medicine, starting to provide healthcare services for gastrointestinal, endoscopy, neurology, and imaging diagnosis. Therefore, we have marked that the period is the beginning of the MNUMS University Hospital System. With regard to the plan of the university to improve healthcare through medical education, innovation and research, on 23 January 2008, Erkhes Outpatient Clinics expanded Erkhes Hospital by order number No. A/06, signed by the General Director of HSUM.

After that, on July 4 2012, Erkhes Hospital was licensed by the Ministry of Health (license number 233) as a General Hospital of the Medical University with inpatient acute care service of 40 beds, including departments of cardiovascular, nephrology, endocrinology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, hepatology, internal medicine, neurology, gynaecology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, traditional medicine, rehabilitation, urology, palliative care, dermatology, and surgery care. In 2020, The General Hospital of Medical University renamed the Central Hospital of MNUMS and relocated to a 7-stored building at the 11th Khoroo of Bayangol District of Ulaanbaatar.
